These materials will allow my students to be successful in school. I often have to remind myself that I am teaching 5 year olds. Many of my students have never been in a formal educational setting. For this reason, they may not be used to sitting and listening to a lesson for a long period of time. Flexible seating will allow my students to wiggle and learn at the same time! The spiked seating will allow my students to receive sensory input and the wobble chairs will allow my kids who need movement to wiggle while still listening. It will allow my class to be developmentally appropriate and meet the needs of my different learners! As a new teacher, I am lacking games for my literacy rotations. I want my students to LOVE learning and these games will help achieve this goal. Not only will my students be gaining important knowledge about letters and letter sounds, but they will also be engaging in the work of authors and readers. They will begin to see themselves as scholars. I will use these literacy games each day during my literacy block. For example, I will be having a sensory literacy center. The playdough alphabet mats will fit perfectly into this center. Finally, I have a very small classroom and I need an easel for my guided reading groups. I need one that is small enough to fit on the table. My visual learners will especially benefit from this because they will be able to see the content that is being taught. This easel will allow me to teach sight words as well as preview and debrief guided reading books.
