Providing choice for student seating is one way to accommodate individual learners in the classroom. In previous years I have lowered tables and provided cushions for students to have a seating choice. Parents didn't want their child sitting on the floor and volunteered to purchase regular chairs for the classroom because the perception was our school was too poor to provide adequate seating. Seating is a simple tool to provide for student success! Every student is unique and comes with different needs. Providing choice of seating can help students learn about their needs and what works best to help them focus and learn. The alternative seating options I have selected include feet bands to attach to chair legs, wobble seats, and stability balls. All these options will provide seating other than cushions on the floor.
