We have already received our materials for our fully funded Flexible Seating project, but are down just a few seats! These last few seats will be the perfect finishing touch to the flexible seating we have already acquired for this school year. All we need is a couple of bouncy ball seats and comfy box seats. Research has shown that students learn best when they can be in control of their own learning. By having the opportunity to choose a different seat every day, kids will learn to take ownership and responsibility for their choice. At the beginning of the year, we will go over the rules for each type of seat and how to use them appropriately if they'd like the opportunity to use them! I've seen this firsthand work very well in a classroom setting. I have started collecting some different types of seating for our classroom but am finding it financially difficult to complete. Each day, the kids in my class will come into the classroom, hang their backpacks and coats, and sit at the carpet for Morning Meeting. Then, I will call each kid (either based on behavior or at random) to choose their seat for the day. Thank you for your help and support!
