SMS is very fortunate to house many musical instruments, but many of these instruments are missing a crucial part such as the mouthpiece for brass, mallets for percussion, or reeds for the woodwinds. In addition, with at least half of the school population participating in Band, there are still not enough instruments to go around. Because many of our students are not in a position to rent or purchase their own instrument, there are several students who share one instrument throughout the school day. We do the best we can to make sure each student has an instrument during class, but to make this happen we need to provide each student with at least their own mouthpiece. Donations to this project will ensure that every student in every period of band will have all of the necessary tools to be successful on their chosen instrument.
