A few classroom rugs are essential to learning in my classroom. Many of my students have difficulty sitting in desks. Being able to spread out on a rug to work helps my students concentrate and produce their best work. My smaller rug will be used in my "cool down corner." Many of my students need a place to reset and practice mindfulness and emotional regulation strategies in a safe space. Due to the use of the current rugs in my classroom, they are extremely worn out and falling apart. Many of my students lack basic needs at home. If I can help it, I want my students to know that they too deserve new things. Whether we are dancing around taking a brain break, working with math manipulatives on the ground, or taking a minute to cool down, my rugs are absolutely vital to the success of my students. Help my students understand that they always have a seat on the rug!
