I teach Kindergarten through units. We start our year off with Pete the Cat and all of the well known nursery rhymes; Hickory Dickory Dock, Little Miss Muffet, Jack and Jill and Humpty Dumpty. We end our year traveling the 7 continents and exploring all of the animals that are found in the different habitats that exist in these areas. The students LOVE traveling the world together. We spend a day or two on each animal. We read, write and complete an art piece on each animal we study. This is my first year teaching kindergarten at this school. As we begin to close the year and dive into our last unit, our ocean unit, I am reflecting and find that my future students could really benefit from more reading material. My students need a classroom library that allows them to research words, facts and illustrations of the things we are learning about. They are always so eager to read and have a book in their hand. With your help, my students will be able to fall in love with reading even more and have the materials they need to dig deep and explore.
