I teach at an under-resourced school in East Oakland. My students face daily struggles with poverty and systemic inequality, and are attending school in a district facing a $30 million budget shortfall. The district and school lack the funds to provide basic resources for my students' education, and my student are keenly aware of the injustice of this situation. They work hard for their education, and deserve better.
