At our school we write our own curriculum and create our own lessons, materials, classwork/investigations, homework assignments, and supplements. Each day I create multiple versions of student-centered differentiated leveled classwork, homework, and materials (all Common Core aligned) for Math and Science in order to meet the various learning needs of all my students and to challenge them individually. I also take pictures of all of my anchor charts, shrink them, and print them to go into my students' notebooks so they have everything they need to succeed in their hands. All of this requires printing! We are also moving towards more Project Based Learning so I would also like to use these materials to foster an inquiry based, engaging, and real world problem-solving experience while learning. These experiences need printed materials in order to engage students and to challenge them as problem solvers and real world thinkers! Classwork/learning materials/homework, mini notebook-sized anchor charts, project-based learning investigations/materials; everyday for 60 students is A LOT of paper and ink! The easel will be heavily utilized as a learning tool during my lessons in many ways; mostly to engage and differentiate for my ESL (English as a Second Language) and IEP (Individualized Education Program) students with visual and tactile learning, as well as for small group instruction.
