The materials selected for this project will allow me to have my students create interactive notebookshia will allow them to have notes to reference throughout this year as well as higher level classes. Many of my students come from homes where getting school supplies may present a burden. This project will enable me to have enough supplies on hand so that all my students have what they need to be successful. I help the students create and organize their notebooks like an actual book to make referring to the notes and studying easier. We spend time setting up and keeping organized neat notebooks. When we cover word problem, students will glue the word problems that have been printed n colored paper into their notes. I guide them through a three step reading process, giving them a specific task for each time. The first time they read it, they are simply looking for the question they need to answer. We box the question in. The second time, they focus on clue words and highlight them. They also underline anything that may be important to solve the problem. On the third read, they simplify identify the numbers needed. This gives the students less information to focus on and benefits students that mat experience trouble with reading. We also create graphic organizers and foldable which the students then glue into their notebooks. This again draws their attention to this information and helps them focus on important information.
