Equitable exposure to engaging STEM projects and opportunities are necessary. I will use this in my classroom to engage students and support them in growing as innovative engineers through a series of projects with small engineering teams of two to four students. I am fortunate this year to have multiple teachers in my classroom during science and would utilize the additional teachers to support students in using the kit as expected in order to maintain materials for long-term use, give individualized support and feedback to students engaged in robotics work, and in pushing students to think critically and successfully collaborate. I will use this kit during STEM activities in class, during STEM night and after school twice a month for grades 3 to 5 and will eventually create a free weekly robotics club for students of our community. As interest in the robotics work grows, I aim to acquire more kits to support more hands-on work for students. This incredible LEGO robotic set is capable of so much. I have used these sets and, more importantly, seen my class two years ago use them. Student engagement and interest peaked, and this was the first opportunity most students were exposed to this kind of STEM opportunity. I have engaged in LEGO robotics professional development where this set was used and understand how to utilize this set. Lastly, I've talked to multiple families of my students and know that creating STEM opportunities will support my students and their families.
