I teach a diverse group of 5th grade students in Santa Barbara, California. 70% of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch and approximately 50% of them are English Language Learners. Teaching student to be critical thinkers and provide opportunities to engage in social justice discourse is essential to prepare future global citizens. As a teacher, I believe that it is important to provide students with real life, meaningful opportunities to make math, science, social students and language arts relevant to my students' life. In my class, I incorporate a lot of visual and performing arts into all other academic content areas and my goal to instill in my students a love for learning.

About my class
