Research is clear that when students have choices in their learning, they are more likely to be engaged and can better learn and apply new knowledge and skills. We begin each day with choice centers where students are free to choose what task/skills they would like to work on. It is important for kindergarten students to feel success and this is one part of the day where all my students feel successful. We need more choices though! These fascinating manipulatives provide a wide range of graduated learning challenges. Children build eye/hand coordination as they link, push and snap the pieces together…then advance to constructing complex objects and designs. The dry erase letter printing books can be used again and again. The dotted letters increase in difficulty to gradually build children’s skills. The few that we have are classroom favorites!
