Hi, my name is Klarissa Morse. I am a kindergarten teacher at a public school in rural Southwest Missouri. I absolutely love my job and I strive to give the best to my students! Since I teach at a small school, where most of our students are on free or reduced lunches, funding for the large rug I need in my classroom is scarce. In Kindergarten, most of our whole group instruction is taught on our rug. Last year my students had a 5 X 7 carpet to sit on, and it was very tight; there was no extra space to spread out and be comfortable! The problem was much worse by the end of the year after adding a few students, it was way too small! Last year I had 14 students (which is very rare for my school), but this year I will have 18-21 students! There is no possible way to fit all of my students onto my current rug comfortably. I enjoy doing group projects and investigating new topics on our rug. If I don't get a larger rug, it will be nearly impossible for my students to be comfortable and focus on learning! My students focus more when we can sit together and converse, so if you donate you will be helping my students feel comfortable while they are growing and learning new concepts.
