My students need proper yoga mats so they can SAFELY learn mindfulness activities and yoga practices. Yoga mats are non-slip and the correct size for poses and stretches. Having these as a resource for my students will allow them to participate in activities that they can utilize in and out of school for a lifetime. One of the main goals is to give kids tools for coping with trauma, anger and stress. Students' social/emotional health is very important to our staff and having proper equipment is the first step to teaching the whole child. This equipment will be used during PE as well as before and after school during extracurricular activities. We would also like to start a "mindfulness corner" in which students who are sent out of the classroom for discipline reasons can use the mats for restorative practices and ready themselves to reenter the classroom to resume learning.
