Through flexible seating I can create a classroom environment that is more student-centered. I want students to feel comfortable in their own classroom and feel that they are decision makers as well as learners. I also want my students to feel supported and understood as they navigate their way through their education. Other classrooms in my building offer flexible seating for their students, and I have seen a dramatic change in their student's willingness to participate and stay involved in classroom discussions and activities. Students that need to move as they learn are given that opportunity when using a wiggle seat. By providing alternative choices such as Hokki Stools to traditional seating in my classroom, I am acknowledging the variety of needs my students have.
