I have previously used a round table or rectangular table to conduct guided reading groups in my classroom. I have found that it is extremely difficult to run the groups efficiently using such tables. By using a kidney table with my groups, I will be able to reach each student in the group, and be able to listen to their reading individually and instruct them without disturbing other students in the group. I will also use this table as my teacher desk which will take up a lot less space in the classroom and make it less crowded and crammed.
