These materials will be used in my everyday reading curriculum. For my ELL learners being able to hear and visualize what they are hearing is a major part of their accommodations. Scholars will be able to go to the listening center to hear stories being read to them. Hearing stories read in other voices also will allow my scholars to get a different interpretation from the story. They can listen and be taken on an adventure without even setting foot outside the classroom. While listening to the stories scholars can read along with the recorded story. When listening to the stories they are improving their listening comprehension skills, associating sounds with words, distinguishing pictures and connecting them to words. Scholars will have a deeper understanding on how to locate author and illustrator on a story book. Listening to stories can help close the gap of sound manipulation and segmentation.
