In case you are not familiar with an inclusion class, these classes are where students with learning disabilities (EC) are integrated into a standard classroom. Many EC students have a disability that makes it difficult for them to stay focused in school. Flexible seating can be a solution for this problem. These products allow them the ability to have subtle, constant motion while learning. This allows them not to be focused on wanting to move, but actually the content. Also, the constant movement allows for the brain to be more stimulated, which optimizes learning. I have researched various types of flexible seating and have found some options that will help my students who constantly need to move without distracting from the visual and auditory learners. EC students have many obstacles to face academically, as well as in the real world. Education is key for these students because it is what gives them a step forward in life. In my class, many of the skills that are taught are not only content based, but skills that are needed to be able to function in society. With this flexible seating, I am meeting the needs of several of my students and preparing them for the world. By donating to my project, you will be not only helping my students succeed academically, but you will also be preparing them to be ready for the real world. For many of us, school was something that came easy. This isn’t the case for my students. They deserve the resources that can help them be successful. Several of these students act out because they struggle with the content because they can’t focus. The yoga balls, wobble seats, standing tables, and kick bands I intend to get for my classroom will make learning attainable for my students.
