Every teacher knows that pencils disappear mysteriously throughout the day. I've come to find out that equipping each kid with their own fully-stocked pencil pouch creates a sense of ownership and personal responsibility in my students. We need pencil cases stocked with pencils and erasers so that students don't have to waste valuable learning time trying to replace a lost or broken pencil. For some families, a new pencil case is an easy purchase, but for many of my students, it's a luxury. I want my students to feel like they are starting the new year off with the tools they need to be successful and productive scholars every day.
