My students come from low income families. Our school has a very culturally diverse population. Many of the students speak English as a Second Language, or will be the first in their family to graduate. I teach 5th Grade English Language Arts and Social Studies and the majority of student time is spent reading, writing, and collaborating. These students have a desire to learn but many struggle to stay engaged and motivated. Flexible seating would get students excited to enter the classroom. Having more options would help them to determine where they can do their best learning and result in happier, more hard working students!
