My students will use these blocks for many different projects over the years, starting with the kindergartners getting acquainted with gravity and balance (which is always exciting!). Older children can work together to design a wide variety of projects, from buildings, aqueducts, and marble raceways to symmetrical designs and cubist portraits. Children need to experience designing with blocks and other manipulatives to experience how the real world effects their designs - they can't ignore physics! Stuff falls down if you ignore good building practices. Gravity corrects them, not the teacher. Plus, the simplicity of blocks lets them design a wide variety of things.
