English Language Learners (ELLs) tend to acquire language much like a child. They learn to listen, then speak, then read, and then write. It is essential that language learners have the ability to take risks with their language in uninterrupted learning environments. After experiencing remote learning in the Spring, it was clear that many students have significant distractions while learning at home. Not allowing language learners to have an environment where they can focus will negatively impact their ability to listen and concentrate, thus leading to a loss of motivation to learn. Having a durable headset that helps to eliminate background noise, and a microphone that they can clearly record and transmit their speech will not only increase their ability to listen, speak, read, and write, but it will grow their learner autonomy and eagerness to participate.
