Many of my students are Hispanic and are still learning that they can do anything. Reading will be incorporated more into the science classroom and these books will provide a foundation to start. The STEM field has been highly under served in this neighborhood and since reading and science go hand in hand, I am ready to take on a reading library to help them on their journey in understanding the importance of science. Many more students every year are expressing their interest in making a difference in science and now I want to provide them with reading opportunities to inspire them in the field. I have implemented a reading corner with pillows, and very small library of donated books (non-science related). The new books will be our schools 1st ever set of science reading literature. The goal would be to eventually have projects surrounding science literature. The lap desks will allow the students to sit more comfortably at this corner and enjoy a good book while taking notes or simply enjoying the area to enhance their learning space.
