Students often struggle to sit at a desk and learn, especially when they have unique learning needs. Students often enjoy working on the floor, with a lap desk, or even wiggling around while they are learning. A seating option may seem like a small part of learning, but it is a very integral part of being able to learn and focus. Some wheel chair bound students have very limited opportunities to sit outside of his/her wheelchair, optional seating gives them more space to move and to fit in with their peers. A choice in seating often empowers the student to make a decision and then get to the task at hand. All students need choices, and this is one small way that these amazing students can make a choice to learn!
