Who really wants to sit in a regular old chair and try to be extraordinary every day? Not me! I remember sitting in class as a student tapping my feet, wiggling around in my chair, and just feeling the need to move. Flexible seating allows students to do just that! It also allows students to have a choice in what type of seat they want to learn in. Who doesn't love having a choice? Students feel more invested in their learning when they are given a choice. Flexible seating gives my students choices in different seating options that are safe and comfortable. I introduced flexible seating in my classroom last year and saw amazing results. My students engagement and participation improved by leaps and bounds and they were so invested in their learning! They enjoyed being able to move while they worked without distracting their classmates. The wobble chairs and exercise balls allow students to sit but still move their bodies around while they work. The wobble cushions allow the students to still sit in a chair but gives them the cushion to wobble and move around without distracting others while still having the stability of a "real chair" underneath them. The wobble boards allow the students to move their core around while standing instead of sitting. These additional flexible seating options will give my students more choices, more movement, and more comfort! With these materials, my students will be more engaged in their learning and will have comfort and choices while doing so. Let's help these students be awesome!
