The addition of calculators to the economics classroom would make it possible to increase the level at which the students are working by giving them the opportunity to work on more rigorous problems and having the resources to do so. Students would not have to rely solely on mental math as they do now; they could incorporate more complicated theories into their projects and daily classes. Students would grow more quickly and become better prepared for college. Math and Economics are not only intertwined but are also a critical part of my students' path to long-term success. STEM classes and careers are in high demand, yet the supply of high school and college graduates in the STEM field is falling. I am looking to change this trend.
