Storyworks, Jr. will allow students to read differentiated real-life text that is interesting and fun. Donations will provide students with hands-on reading material in the form of a magazine, audio versions of articles, knowledge-building videos, scaffolded activities and differentiated engaging lessons to be used in whole and small group instruction. This will not only get my students ready for assessments of each standard and promote a higher level of questioning, but will expose them to many different genres and give them the critical thinking skills needed to be college and career ready. It is my hope that Storyworks will help bring a love of reading to my classroom and provide students skills needed to be successful in life. Storyworks, Jr. offers a variety of texts that help students in reading, listening, and speaking domains aligned with Florida State Standards. Students will use close reading and critical thinking skills along with other concepts to increase academic learning.
