The children in my classroom will use the books I am requesting to read during whole group time. Because our Kinder babies are just learning the beginnings of reading, we need to foster the love for reading by modeling good reading skills with read-aloud books. These particular books are great because they feature daring characters with exciting plot elements. Students will fall in love with the silly puppy, Marley. They will melt when the baby raccoon gets his first kissing hand, and they will learn a lesson in friendship from Gorgonzola and Big Al. When teachers read to students, they can make or break the rest of their educational career. Students learn to love books first with humans they love. When teachers build good rapport with books, students follow with a love for reading that lasts a lifetime! I need these books to be able to give my Kindergarten students an engaging repertoire of read-alouds to take them to another world.
