Inquisitive, social, quirky, and fun--those are the words that best describe every 7th grader to ever grace my classroom. This fall many of the children I will teach have been identified as gifted learners. Adults often mistake this designation as meaning these students compare to little mature adults--this is so not the case. Gifted learners simply learn easily, quickly, and with fewer struggles through their preferred methods of learning. Like any other child, gifted learners want the task of acquiring new knowledge to be relevant and enjoyable. My job as their teacher is to make it that way every day through journaling, acting, stations, 360 degree formative work, technology use, teaming, and playful yet imaginative methods. My classroom strives to be a safe place where students look forward to visiting each day.
