Anything can happen when you teach 11th Grade American History in a "Hut". I have had four legged visitors walk through my door, watched our outdoor garden bloom, and birds peck on our window. I teach at a Title I High School in Rural Pembroke North Carolina that has a 90+ Native American Population. Because there is a family focused atmosphere, my students develop a spirit of love and tenacity toward enhancing their knowledge about our history. My students learn best through hands on activities that draw them into the content. This year, our focus has been on developing Historical Literacy skills to promote college success.
