When students initially play these games they get frustrated with how much math work they need to put into their play. After that initial frustration, they want to play these games all the time! Some of these games they think are too juvenile, until they see the competitive fun involved in the skill of the game. Who can resist playing BINGO or playing with cards? The games are fast paced but students enjoy the competition with each other. Math is no longer boring for them. I have experience with students purchasing these games for home use. They do not realize the games have removed the mundane task of drilling on essential math skills. The games included in this project include six different bingo games that will reinforce working with integers, rational numbers, converting between percent/decimal/fractions, and square roots/radical functions. Also included in the project are card games on working with integers, simplifying fractions, and basic algebra skills. The final game is a fast paced game on addition/subtraction.
