I have so many students today who have trouble focusing and many are now diagnosed with ADHD. I have to say that most of these students are usually boys. It's not my job to make the diagnosis or figure out why we have so many more students who "just can't sit still" but it's my job to help them learn regardless. It kills me as a teacher to see kids who just need to move but often can't in a traditional classroom. In my 17 years of experience I have seen such a change in the way kids learn. They truly need to move in order to keep their brains charged and working. These wobble stools will provide what many kids of today need to learn and focus and feel good about the kind of student they are. Kids will be able to move while the work, take notes, and collaborate with peers, and best of all it won't be distracting to those around them. Often my "wiggly" students are use to being continually corrected for moving too much. This will be a huge blessing to me as a teacher and I know my students will be so excited to see how these accomodations are being made for them. Kids know when a teacher cares and they know when you've gone out of your way to help them learn. I think this will be another way to reach these students who are often harder to reach.
