These materials will assist my special education students with adult daily living skills, work based learning activities, and being able to learn to live independently. After they have completed their academic education, special education students learn to live independently in the community. The requested items will be beneficial in the students learning how to live as an independent adult. The bed and sheets will provide a way for us to teach the students how to make a bed as well as how to wash, dry, and fold sheets. The makeshift closet rack and the hangers will assist us in teaching our students how to hang and sort laundry as well as them being able to wash and dry the laundry. The computers will be a part of a job center that will assist us in teaching the students how to search for jobs as well as create resumes. The kitchen tools will assist us in teaching the students independence in cooking and kitchen fundamentals. The pegboard and supplies will also be a part of a job center where they will learn how to sort different items such as gift cards, toothbrushes, ribbons, pencils, hair accessories, and many more. The laminating supplies will help us create communication books for our non-verbal students to help them gain some independence in communicating with peers and adults in the community. All of these supplies are beneficial in an 18+ program because these students are learning to be more independent as an adult. This project will assist us in teaching our students how to live by themselves by teaching them cooking, cleaning, and living in the community. Learning how to make a bed, cook, and clean is an important part of being an adult. Thank you for helping us help our students!
