My students need your support. I work in a school that is more than 70% low-income. My students come from homes operating in survival mode. The focus is not on choosing the next fun weekend activity, but on where and how they will get their next meal. Many of the students at my school will not engage in any reading activities during the summer months and so my role as teacher is more important than ever. I want to develop a desire to learn and a love of reading that will lay a foundation that leads to success in adulthood. To do this, I provide a variety of highly engaging literature of all genres in my classroom, as well as access to technology that fosters curiosity and a desire to learn.

About my class
