In my 5th-grade science class, we do many projects that involve color. For example, Each student creates an ecosystem in a jar to hang on the wall for open house. The students also keep a science journal and sometimes they prefer to draw and color their notes because it helps them remember better. Color helps student's projects pop, brings their imaginations to life and lets their creativity flow. We are in a very low income district and many of our students can't afford to buy crayons and map pencils. I have seen how my students can really shine when they can add color to their work.
