The phrase "teenagers these days" should always end in "are amazing." Our diverse student body is experiencing design-thinking through collaborative project-based learning in my classroom. In the past two years, approximately 350 students in my Senior English sections have risen to the challenge of solving a problem in the world in need of a unique solution. Last year, the new Write Life class designed their own course of advanced creative writing/careers in publications and developed four editions of the first literary magazine in the district. My freshmen tackled Genius Hour projects and each uniquely answered the question: "What does it mean to be human?" A visitor can expect curiosity and questioning, learners diving into their unique passions, and a great deal of collaborative discussions and decision making in my classroom. Teenagers these days are amazing and teaching me new things every day.
