Flexible seating gives students power and choice of how they learn. I can not sit still and listen for hours each day, so why would I expect 5 and 6 year olds to do this? Whether it's balancing on a wiggle chair while completing a project, swaying on a sit-and-move cushion while reading, or kneeling over a table during a handwriting exercise, flexible seating produces happier and healthier learners! Giving students flexible seating options will allow them to get to know their bodies and brains so they can learn how to be independent, responsible learners that are aware of what they need to do their best! Allowing students to choose how and where they learn also produces better engagement in academic expectations as well as encouraging collaboration amongst classmates. Flexible seating can be anything a student wants it to be, as long as it is safe and helping them learn!
