Given the huge social-emotional and special needs of our students, we want our children to have experiences and materials that will provide them a safe and calm classroom. Our children need a warm and safe space, where they can learn to deal with their big feelings and manage their responses to challenging situations. The Bilingual Feeling Buddy kit will be used to help students identify how they feel, and then come up with a plan to calm down. The Quiet Time Privacy Cube is a safe place where a child can go when their emotions are high and they need a quiet space to work through their feelings. The Sensory Balls Set and Silly Shape Sensory Mats will be available to assist with self-regulation. Finally, the Poly Spot circular disks we requested will be used to help each child understand their personal space when working in a group activity.
