I want to provide my students with individual opportunities to promote critical thinking using STEM/STEAM building materials through open-ended center activities. I feel students need a chance during the school day to build, create, design anything their hearts desire but still learning as they are creating their projects. Through the building STEM/STEAM materials and individual containers I have chosen, my goal is to provide my students STEM/STEAM centers to promote the "Engineering Design Process" that is an integral part of STEM. In STEM/STEAM, the "E" stands for "Engineering Design Process". My specific learning outcome is for my students to master this component of STEM using individual centers containing building materials which allow students to brainstorm, design, build, analyze, modify, and share their product. I believe these materials will benefit my students to become excited about STEM/STEAM because they will be open-ended allowing students maximum creativity using critical thinking skills in the STEM/STEAM engineering design process.
