The gel electrophoresis kit will provide my students with the tools needed to do PCR(polymerase chain reaction), mimic real life paternity testing, crime scene analysis, genetic engineering, etc. These materials will allow my students to be able to do experiments they would not be able to do without the necessary equipment. The kit includes everything needed to complete these investigations right away without having to purchase additional materials. These lab materials will allow my students to conduct an inquiry based lab that is required by the college board in the field of forensics and genetic engineering. It will directly help teach important standards that are necessary for these students to achieve good scores on their AP exams which give them college credit.
