This multiplication carpet will be the perfect addition to my classroom, as we continue the school-wide vision of building community. This class rug will serve as a meeting place for students during our morning meetings, where we implement many lessons geared towards social-emotional learning. It will also serve as a meeting place for classroom readings, conversations, and games. This rug not only provides a space for communal gathering between the students, but it also serves as a great learning tool and reference throughout our math work. Much of our math curriculum expands on our students’ knowledge and fluency within multiplication and division. We plan to use this carpet as a resource for games and activities. Students will not only be able to see the patterns within multiplication and division, but also move their bodies along each column as they explore these patterns. A classroom rug allows for more room to connect, discover, and play.
