Kindergarten students are full of energy and questions. The addition of flexible seating options in our classroom will benefit the students. Studies have shown that flexible seating allows students to find a comfortable position that will help them be calm, focused, and productive. When students do not have the ability to move, they become distracted and sometimes even disruptive. In addition to helping them stay focused and moving, students have the opportunity to choose where to sit with their learning style in mind. The ability for the students to choose helps provide ownership and responsibility. It is essential that the students have the opportunity to choose their seating option so they can become fully engaged in the lesson and be active learners. The portable lap trays will allow the students to move to a different location in the room and sit comfortably while having space to store their materials. The inflatable Wobble Cushions will be used at the carpet and on chairs at their tables. The Wobble Cushions allow students to wiggle during instruction and independent work time without distracting from learning. Finally, the knobby rubber balls will be placed in a plastic crate so the students can sit on them at their tables and release all the wiggles they may have. These flexible seating options will help my students be calm, focused, and productive which will create an improved learning environment for all.
