My kids really need book boxes and a group meeting area. A large carpet is a great place to bring students to read to them. We are also trying to get our students excited about Science with STEM projects. We will also try to incorporate STEAM. These Science resources will help our students better understand what they are learning. For example, the butterfly netting and caterpillars will let these students see a real cocoon up close! We are excited about STEM this year in First Grade! Our students will be working together in groups to do awesome and fun projects! The book boxes we have requested will make it easy for students to have access to the books they need right away. They will be labeled with the students name on the box. They will be able to take their box anywhere in the classroom. In my classroom we do not have desks, we have tables. The chair back supply holders will mean that they will have a place to keep their journals, pencils, etc.. so they may access them quickly instead of being in a box with other students' materials and supplies. These materials will benefit our students greatly in the areas of Reading and Science. They will make a difference because the children will have an independent feel in the classroom. They will be in charge of their supplies and books and their learning. I want the students to feel engaged in what we are doing and get them excited about STEM!
