In Early Childhood Education, play is essential to the learning process. These materials will be used in various centers, in order to help the students engage in the concepts we are learning. Center play is the time that students get to implement the concepts they are learning. Learning through play is a essential part of our Pre-K program. The Washable Dress-Up Masks and Big Mouth Animal Puppet Set will give the students the chance to express themselves through dramatic play. They will re-enacted scenes/characters from the stories that we read in class. They will, also, have the opportunity to work through social situations that we cover in class. Such as, what to do if there is another child have difficulty connecting with other student in their class. They will be able to "pretend" to work through helping their friend find activities that other students will want to participate in. The Lakeshore Block Play People will allow the children to grasp the concept of family interaction. The students will be able to have the figures act out situations that may arise at home. How would the mom respond to the children misbehaving? How would grandma and dad interact? This allows the children to begin to understand the different roles people play in their families. The Indestructible Play Dishes and Healthy Meal Play Food will be used to help understand the concepts of choice and exchange. We will have a mini restaurant in our classroom. The students will be able to write down orders, make the food, and deliver the food to the customer. The customer will them exchange money in return for their food. This helps the students begin to understand the concept of goods, services, and exchange of currency.
