Each one of these books will greatly impact the lives of students that need it. My students deserve access to a quality education, no matter their economic or language background. Having a class set of each book allows for students directly engage with the text. Students will use the text every day of the school quarter, through class discussions, annotations, nightly readings, and various text-based writing projects. Eighth grade is a critical year for students on their path to college readiness. When students consistently have access to a text, they not only enhance their comprehension but improve their literacy skills as well. Imagine a literacy classroom that lacks the most basic tool for learning... a book. Contributing to this project won't just impact student learning, it will completely change the course of their year. Together we can help create a culture of literacy and provide students with the tool they need to succeed.
