My students are from a low socioeconomic area in our community but they show up every day excited about learning. In our classroom the students work hard and support each other through acts of kindness. My students are not scared to try hard at unfamiliar things and because it is a family environment the students do not let fear stop them. I have been the inclusion teacher for many years now and several students in my room have ADD or ADHD. Most of my students are very active as any first grader would be but there are some that require daily modifications to classroom routines in order to keep them engaged. The students are so supportive of one another that it is not out of ordinary to hear them spontaneously erupt in cheers and applause for a student that has just experienced success in the classroom. The family feel in my classroom is evident to all that interact with my students because of our caring spirit.
