Some of my students need the ability to move. Surveying them as to how they learn the best, many have indicated they learn best outside and/or by moving. Who wants to sit in a chair all day? Child or adult!? And allowing them a variety of choices gives them more of a chance to keep their brain engaged and their synapses firing! Some stand, or lay down, or sit on the floor. Others like to sit on the floor but need a space to work so some of the items I include will allow for this! We do many open ended math and reading and science "labs". This gives students the opportunity to choose their best working and learning environment.
