About my class

All of my students are amazing, intelligent and full of great ideas. My students need a space that allows them to work, think and inspire in a way that meets their unique sensory needs. Sometimes kids need to move. Sometimes kids need to relax. I would like to provide them a space that sets them up to be successful in a safe and comfortable environment. Many of my students struggle with behavior, attention, self regulation and executive functioning needs. My focus when working with students is to set them up to be as college and career ready as possible. I hope to instill the idea that we cannot change our obstacles, but we can overcome them by using tools and strategies to set ourselves up for success. I have requested some tables that can seat multiple students to help facilitate small group collaboration. Some students thrive on being able to receive small group instruction. Currently, I have single student desks that are restricting and do not foster collaboration. I have also requested a variety of chairs for flexible seating so students have choice in what tools will set them up for success. Some chairs will allow students more movement while seated to stay engaged and focused. I have requested roller ball stability chairs for students who may need bouncing for sensory needs. I have also requested bean bag chairs for when students need to de-escalate or calm down in an individual, calming space. Working with students who have behavioral challenges and unique learning needs is my life's greatest reward. I hope that through funding I can create a classroom environment that is designed with the student's individual needs in mind. Thank you for your consideration and support.
