My students come from low-income households, many of which cannot supply their students with basic school supplies. I want to provide my students with binders that are all identical (white for ELA/ELD, black for Math) so that students whose families cannot afford to purchase these binders will not feel left out. These binders will help my students stay organized with their school/homework papers and will help me to teach them valuable skills that they will use when they move on to middle school. It is important that my fifth graders learn the importance of having high expectations of themselves, and learning to be organized is one way that they can live up to those new expectations.
