My Pre-K through fifth graders LOVE drumming! It is a wonderful way for me to assess musical concepts such as beat-keeping as well as the discernment of high vs. low, loud vs. soft, big vs. small, and fast vs. slow. The students will be able to learn more about music and people from many cultures across the globe from our drum circle. Drum circles provide musicians with a special "gift"- being a part of something TOGETHER that cannot be achieved by just one person. It is also an excellent avenue for practicing equality and respect. In my experience, drumming = joy! Your donation will help put a drum in each child's hand, allowing for 100% class participation. Large class sizes have caused us to need to take turns, hindering the engagement of all students at once and taking up valuable class time. These drums that I'm requesting are portable, durable, and easy to store, which makes them perfect for maximizing instructional time and minimizing transitions. I am so excited to experience global music with my students and take our ensemble to the next level!
